“Rockin’ Like A Champion” Mykal Rose, Subatomic Sound System, Hollie Cook

September 13, 2024 By
Rockin Like a Champion

“Rockin’ Like a Champion” the new album is a collaboration between Mykal Rose, Subatomic Sound System, & Hollie Cook, out now on all digital platforms, released jointly by Dubshot Records & Controlled Substance Sound Labs following three top ranking singles Get High, Put Down The Gun, and Happy is the Man Who Finds Wisdom. Reserve your copy now of the limited edition vinyl of alternate mixes and a new tune out Nov 29, a Record Store Day Black Friday vinyl exclusive.

“I think it’s really, really powerful… This is going to get a lot of play, not just on radio but in sound systems! When you hear it, this thing really drops! Mykal is one of Jamaica’s finest vocalists and he’s still has that magical, unique voice…I can tell you, what they’ve created here, you’ll hear from the way they’ve built these riddims, they are rooted in sound system culture… All the sounds are gonna be playing this one! Absolutely brilliant!” – David Rodigan, BBC 1Xtra World Premiere

“A 4/20 anthem! Although the brooding bass signals a more forward-looking sound, classic reggae production — including ominous conga percussion courtesy of Larry McDonald and sultry brass from Troy Simms — is ultimately the name of game in “Get High.” Most impressive is the track’s mixing, the way Hollie’s upper harmonies are layered evoke the ever-unfurling clouds of marijuana smoke. Mary Jane enthusiasts, your time is now!” – Billboard.com “Best New Reggae Dancehall Songs”
